“Small investments today can create big financial security tomorrow.”
Himalayan Whitehouse College of Law successfully organized an informative session under Global Money Week 2026 – “Smart Money Talks” in collaboration with Muktinath Capital Limited. The program was conducted with the objective of enhancing financial literacy among students and promoting responsible financial decision-making. Global Money Week is an international initiative coordinated by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) to raise awareness among young people about the importance of financial education. In line with this global effort, the college hosted a focused session aimed at equipping students with essential knowledge of financial systems and investment practices.
The session covered a range of important topics relevant to the Nepalese financial context. Students were introduced to various investment options in Nepal, including the stock market, fixed deposits, mutual funds, and hydropower investments. The discussion emphasized the importance of understanding risk tolerance, financial goals, and long-term planning. In addition, the concept of Portfolio Management Services (PMS) was explained, highlighting how professional management can help individuals diversify their investments and manage risks effectively. The session also addressed Anti-Money Laundering (AML) practices, underlining the legal and ethical importance of maintaining transparency in financial transactions.
Furthermore, students gained insights into the role of Depository Participants (DP) and the functioning of Demat accounts in Nepal’s modern digital trading system. This helped participants understand how securities are managed electronically, making transactions more secure and efficient.
The session proved to be highly beneficial for students, providing them with practical knowledge and encouraging them to develop informed financial habits from an early stage. Himalayan Whitehouse College of Law remains committed to organizing such academic and practical learning programs that contribute to the holistic development of its students.
